February 2007, Van Devender organized & hosted a Sixth Grade Choral Festival bringing in sixth grade singers from the Northwest Colorado region to participate in a Large Group Honor Choir setting. Following a full day of rehearsals with a guest conductor from Denver metro region, the singers sang in concert to a packed house that evening.

The 2002-2003 school year saw Van Devender spearhead an effort to bring a band program back to the Garfield County School District # 16 after several dormant years. His efforts resulted in a 6th, 7th & 8th Grade Beginning Band which met after school. They completed their return with a series of Spring concerts, capping a successful return to existence.
